I would like to thank Ann-Magret and her amazing staff for a wonderful experience at Sunning hill recovery lodge.
My father of 84 was in need of care as his primary caregiver, my mother, was unable to take care of him for a week. The professional and friendly staff at Sunning hill recovery lodge welcomed him with open arms and he felt instantly at home in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings. The Lodge is tastefully decorated and equipped for wheelchairs with sturdy ramps and accessible showers and wide doors. His room was spacious with an air-conditioner, en suite bathroom Smart TV and a comfortable big Lazy chair. The staff showed him all the emergency buttons and he received a panic button around his neck which enabled him to call for help at any time, day or night. This made him feel more at ease as he was quite apprehensive and anxious about the change in his usual routine. The staff regularly measured his blood pressure and it was comforting to know that a Doctor was available if he needed any medical attention.
The staff’s name tags made it easy for him to recognize them behind their masks and he quickly shared jokes and felt relaxed and “Welcomed”. He settled in and was very impressed with the healthy and ample lunch he received. He was given the Wi-Fi password and could sit comfortably in the beautiful garden and listen to classical music and watch the birdlife in the shady trees.
Unfortunately, my father experienced separation anxiety without my mother’s company and Ann-Magret made it possible for me to accompany my father and stay as a guest as well. They arrange for a bed to be placed in his room and I was able to experience the luxury of the Recovery Lodge at his side. We spent many precious hours over breakfasts of fresh fruits and hearty omelettes, lunches of favourite South African cuisine and delicious, beautifully presented suppers.
I can recommend this facility with a clear conscience as no expenses were spared to provide excellent, friendly and professional care to the guests.
With a grateful heart
